Hospice Needs Volunteers To Help Rebuild Lives After Loss
Hospice Needs Volunteers To Help Rebuild Lives After Loss
DANBURY â Regional Hospice is looking for volunteers to assist with grief support offered through its award-winning Healing Hearts Center for Grieving Children & Families. A professional training program will be offered on October 16, 20, and 23 from 9 am to noon at Healing Heartsâ unique bereavement center located at 73 Stadley Rough Road.
Bereavement volunteers play an important role in helping those who are grieving to overcome the emptiness that often accompanies loss. Through personal visits and phone calls or assisting with group meetings, bereavement volunteers provide monitoring, support, and other assistance.
They reach out to help grieving people establish new relationships, discover new identities, and achieve independence during their time of healing. Healing Hearts programs are free of charge to anyone in the greater Danbury area and nearby communities.
The professionally-led training program will provide an introduction to the hospice philosophy of patient and family care with a focus on supporting those who are experiencing grief and loss as they begin the process of rebuilding their lives. Specific training will explore the unique needs of children.
The role of bereavement volunteers will be fully explained and opportunities to work with both adults and children will be discussed.
To register for the training session, contact Carolyn Wolfe or Maureen Decker in the Volunteer Department at Regional Hospice, between the hours of 8:30 am and 5 pm, at 739-8315.
An interview, references, and a background check are required. Those interested must register by Friday, October 10.
