To the Editor:

For those of you who have sat through or taken a knee during the national anthem; I support your right to protest. I may not agree, and reserve my right to speak out against your position, but you have the right to protest injustice as you see it.

Your natural right to speak out and protest is acknowledged and protected by the United States Constitution. Showing respect for our national anthem does not mean that you acquiesce your right to protest the policies of our current government.

The national anthem represents our faith and respect for the Constitution, our country, and the countless men and women who have given their lives to ensure that we are not living under a system that would not recognize or protect your right to protest. Our Constitution and our predecessors who have made the ultimate sacrifice to protect it deserve that respect.

You have the right to protest.

You should have the decency to honor those who have fought and died to protect that right.
