La Leche League Announces New Series
La Leche League of Newtownâs fall series of meetings begins on Tuesday, September 19, with the topic âTrue or False: Misconceptions about Breastfeeding,â at 10 am in the parlor room on the main floor of the Newtown Youth Services building, 41-A Main Street (Congregational Church House).
Park behind the NYS building or in the Town Hall parking lot, not in Newtown Savings Bank parking lot.
Upcoming meeting topics are: October 17, âHow Childbirth Choices Affect Breastfeedingâ; November 21, âBreastfeeding: The Spectrum of Normalâ; December 12, âBreastfeeding and Beyond.â
Toddler meetings will be held in October and November on dates to be announced. These meetings are geared towards the needs of mothers with older nursing babies and toddlers and are held in members homes.
Attending La Leche League meetings can help women learn about breastfeeding from other nursing mothers. At these monthly meetings, mothers share not only their questions and concerns but also the benefits and joys of breastfeeding. Babies and toddlers are welcome, and mothers-to-be are especially encouraged to attend.
La Leche League is an international, nonprofit, nonsectarian organization dedicated to providing education, information, support, and encouragement to women who want to breastfeed. All women interested in breastfeeding are welcome to attend the monthly Group Meetings or call a Leader for breastfeeding help.
