Town Players To Host 'Almost, Maine' Auditions

Town Players of Newtown will host auditions for John Cariani's collection of vignettes, Almost, Maine, on Sunday and Monday, October 2-3. The auditions will run from 7 to 9 each night.Almost, Maine, features nine brief scenes that explore love and loss. The quirky approach to the delights and dangers of romance take place in a remote, mythical "almost-town" called Almost, Maine.The New York Times said: "This is a beautifully structured play, with nifty surprise endings (most but not all of them happy) and passing references to characters from other vignettes, which slyly tell us more about them."newtownplayers.org.info@newtownplayers.org.

Premiering at Portland Stage Company in Portland, Me., in 2004,

Terry Sagedy of Newtown will direct.

The production calls for men and women of various ages. If possible, actors should read the play in advance and be ready to read sides from the script.

No appointment is necessary.

All roles are available, and some actors may be double cast. Character descriptions are available at

Rehearsals wil begin in October, and the production is scheduled to run Friday and Saturday evenings, November 18-December 10, with two Sunday matinees.

Auditions will take place at The Little Theatre, 18 Orchard Hill Road.
