Historical Society’s Fall Antiques Show Returns Sunday

The second of two successful annual fund raising antiques shows sponsored by Newtown Historical Society will be held Sunday, September 26, from 10 am to 4 pm, at Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street in Newtown.

As a result of the highly successful spring antiques shows that have been held over the past 20 years, the society received many requests to host a second show in the fall. For the second year organizers are excited to present another wonderful roster of quality dealers who will bring diverse merchandise to an already popular show.

Show manager Nancy Taylor says she is proud of the society’s shows as they present a wide variety of quality merchandise with reasonable pricing. The reputation of Newtown Historical society’s shows is one of affordable antiques from highly regarded dealers.

Returning this year are dealers offering furniture and accessories, baskets, woodenware, stoneware, ironstone, glass and china, American furniture, primitive appointments and works of art, linens and textiles, kitchenware from the 30s through the 50s, country furniture and accessories, apothecary items, polished brass candlesticks, antique and vintage children items, authenticated prints, crystal, lamps and accessories, country primitives and silver.

Admission to the show is $5 with the proceeds benefiting Newtown Historical Society’s free public programs as well as preservation of the Matthew Curtiss House Museum and its collections. The circa 1750 Curtiss House, located across the street from the antiques show, will be opened during the day for a free demonstration and tours by costumed guides.
