Gerald J. Corcoran, 91, of Florida, formerly of Sandy Hook, died September 14, at The Grove Rehabilitation Center in Hernando, Fla. He was born in Flushing Queens, N.Y., April 9, 1927, the son of Patrick Corcoran and Rujena Drozed Corcoran.

His wife of 58 years, Anne (DaSilva) Corcoran; daughters and their husbands, Roseanne and Roy Koveleski and Kathleen and Simon Scales; four grandsons, David Koveleski, Daniel Koveleski, Patrick Scales, and Michael Scales; several nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends survive him.

Mr Corcoran attended Newtown High School in Elmhurst, Queens. He was a World War II veteran, serving with the Eighth and the 15th Army Air Corps. He then served in Fairbanks, Ala., during the Cold War Era. He was a member of the Air Force Reserves until 1964. Mr Corcoran graduated from Manhattan College with a degree in civil engineering and worked for Perk and Elmer.

He later moved to Sandy Hook, where he raised his family, before retiring from Pitney Bowes and moving to Hernando, Fla. Mr Corcoran was an active member of The American Institute of Plant Engineers, The Mason’s Hiram Lodge no. 18, the VFW, and the Moose Lodge. He also volunteered at the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, Youth Court, the Citizen’s Academy, and he was a Florida Governor appointee to the Florida Local Advocacy Council.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday, September 29, at 10 am, at St Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown, with Father Alphonse Arokiam officiating.
