On Wednesday, October 9, The Town and Country Garden Club of Newtown will present a program by Carl Galanter, manager of perennials at Broken Arrow Nursery in Hamden. Mr Galanter’s program will be “Take the Fear Out of Dividing Perennials.”

The program will be at Newtown Senior Center, 14 Riverside Road in Sandy Hook. It will begin at 7 pm and is open to the public, free of charge.

Mr Galanter will focus on the timing and techniques used in dividing perennials that can sometimes be daunting for some gardeners. He will demonstrate using plants from containers.

Broken Arrow Nursery is a premier destination nursery that “acquires and develops, and grows rare and garden worthy plants.” Mr Galanter oversees the propagation and purchasing of perennials, and says the more unusual the better. He particularly enjoys working with selections of Arisaema, Disporum, Helleborus and Polygonatum.

Reservations are not required, but additional information is available from Liz Arneth, at 203 405-6470.

Carl Galanter will take the fear out of dividing perennials during the next Town & Country Garden Club program. Among the favorite plants for Mr Galanter to work with are selections of Helleborus; Winter Jewels™ ‘Onyx Odyssey’ are shown here.
