To the Editor:

I have known Mitch Bolinsky for over ten years as a highly principled man of his word with very strong integrity and a willingness to pursue very difficult challenges and political wranglings. During the course of this year’s State Budget meltdown, including severe cuts to Senior Financial Programs, Mitch led the challenge in representing the Seniors of Newtown who heavily depended upon the “at-risk” Medicare Savings Program that was being abandoned by the state. With that challenge turned around at the state level, Mitch continued to be actively involved in our local Newtown Seniors’ activities as well as being on-call and accessible to Senior Advocates, like myself, who have been pushing the envelope in representing Newtown Seniors through the Commission on Aging; Friends of Newtown Seniors; Newtown Continuing Education for Seniors; and most recently, the new AARP Age Friendly Livable Community Initiative that Newtown has embarked upon.

Mitch is here to stay — a family member caregiver himself, like many of us, and committed to representing all his constituents.
