To the Editor:

I have lived in Newtown for the past 25 years. I have been fortunate enough through my work to get know many of our political leaders and the issues that impact our community. Over a decade ago, I happened to bump into Tony Hwang at an event. We were chatting about the lunch speaker when he asked about my work. He then proceeded to ask questions and listen to my answers for the next 20 minutes as we walked to the parking lot.

What struck me then, as now, is that he did this because he cared. He cared to know about the issues that concerned me and the families I worked with. I was not one of his constituents then, I was just a guy Tony met. As fate would have it, I’ve become one of Tony’s constituents. Since then, he has impressed me even more. He has shown the compassion to fight for the issues that matter to Newtown and the savvy to make sure our voices are heard in Hartford.

I encourage everyone to vote to re-elect Tony Hwang.
