To the Editor:

Sunday, December 2, is the anniversary of the Newtown Youth and Family Services Holiday Festival and Holiday House Tour. We need your help to make this a success. Without the support of the Main Street and surrounding area residents, the house tours and the funds raised from the tours will not be possible.

We are looking for six houses to be on the tour, all of them located in the beautiful historic area of Newtown. If you are interested in offering your home, you will be provided with a personal decorator to showcase the exterior of your home and your choice of rooms on the first floor. The decorators will incorporate your family traditions and supplement with complimentary decorations and fresh greenery. We will work with the homeowner and the historical society to provide a history of your homestead for you and the event docents to share with visitors. Docents and volunteers will be on hand throughout the entire tour to guide visitors and to help clean up, including snow removal the day of the event, if needed. Foot coverings and runners will also be provided to protect your floors.

Additionally, those who offer their homes to the tour will be given four free tickets to all the events of the Holiday Festival. These include the trolley tour, house tours, Victorian Tea, Festival of Trees, the Nutcracker Ballet, and children’s activities.

Over the past 32 years, Newtown Youth and Family Services has grown with your help. We are a recognized leader in providing mental health and support services to the Greater Newtown area. The dynamic staff of 38 people of this nonprofit agency combines clinical services and positive youth development programs to provide a continuum of care to the residents of Newtown. As a nonprofit agency, we rely heavily on the generous donations and support of the community.

You can help us carry on the traditions of the past 32 years and make this 33rd Holiday Festival House Tour the best ever by volunteering your home for the tour. Please contact Susan Smith at 203-426-8103 or ssmith@newtownyouthandfamilyservices.org to confirm your home for the tour no later than Thursday, November 1. Also, please pass the information along to anyone you know that might be interested in volunteering their home.

Thank you for your kind and generous support.

Sincerely,

Candice Bohr, Executive Director

Newtown Youth and Family Services
