Endangered Plants Of Connecticut

The focus of the October program hosted by The Garden Club of Newtown will be vanishing Connecticut plant species.  The speaker will be John Pawloski and his topic will be “Endangered Plants of Connecticut.”

The public is invited to attend the free presentation, which will begin at 1 pm on Tuesday, October 23, at Cyrenius H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street in Newtown. Registration is not necessary. Call 270-1108 for more information.

Retired after 33 years as a middle school science teacher in New Milford, Mr Pawloski is a man of many interests and talents. A geologist by training, he is currently director of the Connecticut Museum of Mining and Mineral Science.

A successful freelance photographer, Mr Pawloski’s photos have been published in many magazines such as Glamour and Connecticut magazine as well as textbooks and Time/Life publications. He specializes in mostly nature and historical photography and his presentation in Newtown will be illustrated with personal slides.

Mr Pawloski enjoys sharing his knowledge of many topics, including travel adventure, nature, mining history, geology and archeology. He has given over 500 lectures to many organizations, and is an honorary member of Brookfield Garden Club.
