To The Editor:

With Election Day fast approaching, I urge the Newtown community to re-elect Mark Boland to the Board of Finance. My husband Steve and I have known Mark and his family for 25 years. It all began with my becoming a business associate of his at a reinsurance company in Stamford. At the time, he was thinking of moving and I suggested he take a look at Newtown. He did. In the time that has passed, I continued to work with him for many years, and lived in this community until recently. Whether it was alongside Head O' Meadow parents, a little league game, or high level business negotiations at work, Mark was someone I learned from and wanted to be aligned with.

Let me share an anecdote. When Steve and I became empty nesters and decided to relocate to the Hartford area, Mark not only provided references in my job search, but spent the better part of a Saturday helping me create a detailed financial proposal to pitch to a potential employer. This tells you all you need to know about his way with people and with numbers. Steve and I maintain an interest in the future of the Newtown community. Our daughter Allison (Grant) Sterner and her husband, Sean, are now raising our two grandsons on the same street that Mark and his family live on. They join us in endorsing this highly capable candidate for re-election.
