The course will share how to stop living under clutter, how to get organized, and how to know where to start. Professional organizer Karen Pierce can help guide and inspire in this quest from chaos to calm. Starting with home, Ms Pierce will help students build a roadmap for creating balance and harmony so they can feel at home inside and out. Students should bring a purse/handbag/backpack to class that is not preorganized. The most important information when planning for retirement is deciding whether to protect yourself with insurance and what type to choose. The concept goes from purely choosing term, whole life, variable life, or universal life. There are applications for each of these that will protect the insured and their family in different ways. The workshop will include discussion to keep attendees well informed.The Importance Of Wills And Life Planning Documents - A one class course on October 19 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, $29. The course will discuss terms like living will, durable power of attorney (POA), health care directive and proxy, revocable and irrevocable trusts, DNR, and more. The course will share how they were created and how important will and life planning documents are in today's society.Green Cleaning With Essential Oils - A one class course on October 19, from 7:30 to 8:30 pm, $15. Participants will learn about essential oils, how to use them to promote healthy living and to improve physical and emotional health. The class will include take-homes, including samples and items made during the class.Take Better Pictures, By Understanding Composition - A one class course on October 18, from 7 pm to 9 pm, $39. Learn the basics of composition and put the "wow" back into photos. The class will practice composition and creativity by taking photos that use these guidelines. Students should bring their camera and manual to class.Financial Strategies For Successful Retirement - A three-class course starting October 18, 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, $29. With financial independence, retirement can be the most fulfilling time of life. This class covers important money management concepts and issues that are valuable to people near or at retirement. Topics include how to reduce pressures on retirement income and which assets are appropriate for retirement income. A "hear it, see it, read it, write it" teaching method makes it easy to understand and remember the practical information. No products or investments will be promoted or offered. By condensing up-to-date financial information into three classroom sessions, this seminar gives answers on financial independence. A $30 material fee is payable to the instructor at the first class.Essential Oils For Everyday Living - A class course from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm on October 20, $29. Essential oils are derived from plants, flowers, and herbs and are known as the essence of the plant or nature's living energy. Potent and concentrated, essential oils are a practical and pleasant alternative to commercial products. Learn about essential oils and their many uses in everyday living. Fiction, The Abbreviated Version Of What You Need To Know About Annuities - A one-class course on October 25, 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, $29. Annuities are a very complex concept. Yes, they are supposed to be used for growth, guaranteed income, tax deferral, capital preservation, legacy planning, estate planning, and death benefit purposes. However, so many types of annuities have been created that it is no longer a simple question or answer. It is important to be educated on the pros and cons.Simplified Estate Planning For Boomers And Seniors - A one-class course on October 26, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, $29. Everyone has an estate and planning an estate preservation is critical to both the owner and heirs. This course will detail the steps to undertake in developing an asset profile and documenting the necessary components.Sewing Machine Basics - A two-class course starting November 3, from 6 pm to 8 pm, $79. Learn how to use a sewing machine correctly, what each part does, how to troubleshoot common problems, plus tips for easier threading and smoother stitches. Students will become comfortable with their sewing machine and discover how to use its best features and attachments. Students should bring their sewing machine with manual, accessories, needles, and bobbins to each class. The instructor will provide general sewing supplies (thread, pins, scrap fabric) for practice. Limited to 8 students.Food Halls Of New York City - A Saturday, November 12, excursion, $85, that departs from Newtown High School, 12 Berkshire Road. Attendees will follow the local New York City tour guide through three of the best food halls in the world. Plaza Hotel Food Hall: Chef Todd English has brought together an abundance of culinary choices in one dynamic setting akin to European food halls not typically found in the US, all under the famous gabled roof of the Plaza Hotel. Eataly: A high-end Italian food market filled with restaurants, food and beverage stations, and bakeries. Chelsea Market: Experience the sights, sounds and flavors of this 117-year-old historic landmark building, home of the Oreo cookie. A block long and a block wide, this indoor food hall has everything from soup to nuts, wine to coffee, cheese to cheesecake.Christmas In Newport - A Saturday, December 10 excursion, $114, that departs from NHS. The Breakers is the grandest of Newport's "cottages" and is the sumptuous mansion of Commodore Cornelius Vanderbilt. Attendees will enjoy an audio guide so they can walk through at their leisure listening to the story of the mansion. They will see magnificently decorated rooms, poinsettias, charming ornaments, tress and wreaths, and more. They will enjoy dining at The Pier Restaurant offering beautiful views as well as an option for every palate. The menu includes tossed salad, choice of baked stuffed breast of chicken or shrimp scampi over fettuccine or baked catch of the day, vegetable, potato, and dessert.
