To the Editor:

I write with absolute excitement in support of Maureen Crick Owen for Board of Selectmen. By now you all know that Maureen is extremely gifted in her abilities to multitask, organize, listen, and make facts-first decisions (as a former selectman I can tell you these are essentials, particularly in difficult times for our town.) By this time, you probably also know that Maureen is an 11th generation Glover, her relatives formerly served as first selectman and selectman, that she has dedicated her services on the Parks and Recreation Board, Borough Zoning Clerk and now Borough Zoning Enforcement Officer (Maureen knows how to make the tough calls, but remembers the taxpayer is the customer and it's all about the customer, not the government.) Also, by now, people know Maureen has dedicated her work with the Newtown Ambulance Corps. Everyone matters, particularly those most vulnerable.

I've known Maureen for some 25 years. Her public service is exceptional. Her ability to hone in on the particulars of an issue is unquestionable. I know this because, not only did she work as a paralegal in my law office, but as former campaign chairperson to the Democratic Town Council. Every single Democrat that presently holds office owes her a huge thank-you for their election. Maureen knew not only the election thoughts of the candidates, but she knew all the boards and commissions and pressing issues so as to educate the candidates. She knew the process, and she knew the substance. Again, important if one is serving on the Board of Selectmen (three persons).

In short, Maureen is extremely experienced, knowledgeable, and combined with Dan Rosenthal, an amazing teammate (though take it from me, she is a Glover, she is her own person). I know she believes in controlled taxes, strong education, smart development, and a concern for seniors (TEDS.)

Maureen Crick Owen is the key choice. Please vote for her on Line A.

I would also like to suggest a visit to the website newtownctdemocrats.org to visit the highly qualified Democratic candidates on the Board of Finance and Legislative Council. They are exceptional.
