On Sunday, November 2, at 4 pm, Music @ Trinity will present an Autumn Festival Concert featuring flautist Mary Larson, clarinetist Ed Wojtowicz and friends.

The secular musical event will take place at Trinity Church, 36 Main Street in Newtown, with professional singers Michele McBride, Cynthia McCorkindale, Gordon Jones, John Sullivan, and Boyd Schlaefer singing works of Bernstein, Handel, Spohr, and the setting of Robert Frost’s poem “The Road Not Taken” by Randall Thompson.

The program will also feature the autumnal sounds of Aaron Copland’s Duo for Flute and Piano, performed by Ms Larson and pianist Fiona Smith Sutherland.  This exceptional flute piece is rarely performed and it is a treat to experience this work in a live setting.

Ed Wojtowicz, a Juilliard trained musician, will play Three Little Waltzes for Flute and Clarinet by Daniel Dorff , with Ms Larson.

The audience will also hear from two talented local pianists, Madeleine Albee from Newtown High School and Zachary Macey from the Reed Intermediate School.  Maddy will be playing works of Chopin, Bartok and Schumann, while Zachary’s piano pieces include the lively Maple Leaf Rag and arrangements of Beethoven, Grieg, and Rimsky-Korsakov.

Treble soloist Drew Sutherland will continue the autumn theme with Aaron Copland’s Zion’s Walls and a setting of the haunting Hallelujah of Jeff Buckley.

The 75-minute concert will be followed by a festive reception where aspiring young musicians and lovers of music can meet and talk with the instrumentalists and singers.

Concert donations to support Music @ Trinity will be accepted at the door.

Contact the Music Office at Trinity Church, 203-426-9070 extension 11, for additional information.

Flautist Mary Larson will be joined by singers, from left, Gordon Jones, Cynthia McCorkindale, Boyd Schlaefer, and Michele McBride for a special autumnal-themed concert Sunday afternoon at Trinity Episcopal Church.
