Friends of the C.H. Booth Library (Friends) hosted its annual Fall Donation Day on Sunday, October 21, from noon to 5 pm.

The event gave people the opportunity and convenience of driving to the back of C.H. Booth Library and having Friends’ volunteers unload and transport all their donations into the building. Those that donated received a tax receipt for their generosity.

Friends Chair Denise Kaiser said that they had a “fabulous group of volunteers” working to bring items in and that the weather was in their favor.

The all-volunteer group even had some large unexpected contributions on Donation Day, including truckloads of books being donated by two different gentlemen.

Ms Kaiser said the Friends were kept busy collecting donations until closing time at the library.

“It’s so good to know that the residents of Newtown are still readers and [are] so generous in their support of the Friends’ fundraising efforts to benefit the library,” Ms Kaiser said in an e-mail to The Newtown Bee following Donation Day.

The donations collected will go toward this year’s Holiday Sale on Saturday, December 1, and Sunday, December 2, in the Meeting Room of the library.

Even though Donation Day is over, there are still opportunities to donate books, DVDs, LPs, CDs, video games, board games, and puzzles to the Friends of the C.H. Booth Library. For additional information, visit boothbooksale.org.
