Elsie A. Beers

Longtime NHS       Cafeteria Manager

Elsie A. Beers, 93, formerly of Newtown, died November 13 in Deltona, Fla. Mrs Beers was the wife of the late Irving C. Beers.

She was born in Newtown on October 17, 1912, a daughter of Frederick and Mable (Sturges) Andrews.

Mrs Beers was a graduate of Newtown High School and was a longtime member of St John’s Episcopal Church in Sandy Hook where she was a member of the Altar and Quilting Guilds. For many years she was cafeteria manager at Newtown High School. She moved to Florida from Newtown in 1980.

Mrs Beers is survived by her sons, David A. Beers and his wife, Judith, of Sandy Hook,  Morris Beers and his wife, Carol, of Brockport, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial celebration will be held at St John’s Episcopal Church, 5 Washington Avenue, Sandy Hook, at 2 pm, Sunday, November 27. Interment will follow in Zoar Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
