Occupation: I own Safe At Home, a pet-sitting company. We have three primary services: midday dog walks, in-home visits while owners are away, and we also can provide overnight staff for those times when pet owners are away for an extended period. Right now, I have 840 clients in the area.

Family: I have three grown children. Eric is married to Ksenia and living in Bethel; Corey is married to Tanya and they live in Weston; and Emily, my youngest, lives in Danbury. I have four grandchildren, Kyra, 6, Sophia, 15 months, Luke, 3, and Chloe, 10 months old.

Pets: I have three dogs, PomPom, the rescue burn victim Pomeranian, Marco, a Lhasa, and Zoe, a lab-cross. Marco and Zoe are also rescue dogs. I have three cats. Cheopsa is 18 years old. My son brought her home from college. Felina and Phoebe are the two new girls that I adopted from the Newtown Pound. They’re about a year and a half old now. And let’s not forget the ten birds. I have three parrots and seven parakeets. My house is not a quiet place to be. I also have two miniature horses, Cheyenne and Aiden. Aiden is also known as Trouble — he’s an escape artist.

How long have you been in Newtown? I lived in Newtown almost 30 years and just recently moved to Southbury on the lake.

What do you like to do in your free time? I don’t have a lot of free time but I’m very involved in the animal rescue world and on the board at Canine Advocates of Newtown. I am a voracious reader, too. I usually have at least three books going, one upstairs, one downstairs, and one in my car. I also sketch, mostly miniatures of buildings and architecture, and of pets. I belong to the Ladies Who Lunch and we have lots of get togethers, including the Best In Show Party, every February.

What are you reading right now? I’m reading The Almost Moon by Alice Sebold, upstairs. Downstairs I am reading The Duchess by Amanda Foreman, and my car book is Suite Francaise by Irene Nemirovsky. I also love Irene Nemirovsky’s other book that was discovered, a little thing called Fire In The Blood.

Do you have a favorite vacation destination? Vacation for me is not having to get up at 6:30 am to walk someone else’s dog. I love where I am. Why would I need to go anywhere else?

What is the best thing about Newtown? For me, Newtown is the epitome of peace and tranquility, compared to what I do all day. It’s still rural enough to make me want to stay in the area. Where I live now is only half a mile from Newtown. I can see it across the water.

If you could do anything you have never done, what would you do? I would live on a farm and live off of the land. I would take in as many strays as I could. I’d love to have a private animal shelter where I could house homeless animals. That’s my fantasy.

Do you have a personal philosophy? In John Lennon’s song “Beautiful Boy” there is a line that says, “Life happens while you’re busy making plans.” That’s something everyone should look at. Life goes by too quickly. Look at each day as a gift.

Do you have a guilty pleasure? Shoes! I have 150 pair of shoes, and when my daughter lived at home she wore the same size as me, so we had 300 pairs. I think it’s genetic or something. And my other guilty pleasure is spending exorbitant amounts of money on my grandchildren.
