Six-year-old Lucia Rose St Lorenzo wants to make sure the Newtown Police Department on-duty staff will have a good Thanksgiving dinner.

The daughter of Courtney McKenna and Antonio St Lorenzo of Newtown, Lucia Rose “committed a random act of kindness to kick off the holiday season,” her father said. She wanted to make sure that Newtown police had a good Thanksgiving dinner, and together with Newtown’s Adopt-A-Cop program, she approached Newtown Inn owner Rob Ryder, also of ROR Restaurant Group, and ROR Operations Manager Susan Anzalone for help catering the dinner. Lucia had asked her father to help her pay for the meal.

“My daughter wanted to use some of her money if I would help her out,” Mr St Lorenzo said in a recent e-mail. He told her, “Yes, of course.”

He wrote: “Once Mr Ryder and Ms Anzalone heard what Lucia wanted to do for our police officers, they graciously donated Thanksgiving dinner on behalf of all the children of Newtown. [Mr Ryder] said that her act of kindness was overwhelming and he would like to be part of it and donate food.”

The dinner will be delivered to Newtown PD Thanksgiving Day.

This is not Lucia Rose’s first outreach effort. At 5 years old she rode her bike 23 miles for the Wounded Warrior Project and raised $3,000 dollars. She was named Channel 12’s Hometown Hero.

Lucia Rose St Lorenzo has decided that she wants to make sure the Newtown police officers working on Thanksgiving have a good dinner at the police station this year.
