Glebe House Announces Holiday Plans

WOODBURY — The public is invited to celebrate the start of the holidays at the Glebe House Museum with A Merry Evening of Food & Wine.

The festive evening will take place on Friday, December 2, from 5:30 to 8 pm, at the museum, 49 Hollow Road in Woodbury. Tickets are $25 per person. All of the decorations that have been created by artists, craft persons, volunteers and local businesses will be on display, and available for purchase before they are available to the general public.

The gala event will showcase artistic wreaths and holiday décor beautifully displayed in the 18th Century historic house museum. Guests will be treated to an array of wine and hors d’oeuvres served by candlelight. All of the decorations will be available for purchase along with a table of exciting treasures to bid on in a silent auction.

The Holiday Gift Shoppe will be open, with handmade items for purchase and gift-giving.

All proceeds for the event will be benefit the Glebe House Museum & Gertrude Jekyll Garden.

The decorated house will then be open to the public on Saturday, December 3, from 10 am to 3 pm, during the Woodbury Christmas Festival. Costumed docents will give first person accounts of the Marshall family, who lived at the Glebe from 1771-1786, and share how the family prepared for the Holiday Season.

Admission is free on Saturday. The Museum’s Holiday Gift Shoppe will be open again, and remaining holiday decorations from Friday evening’s gale will also be for sale.

For more information or to purchase tickets for the Preview Holiday Party, call the museum at 203-263-2855.
