New Lebbon DUI

Police said motorist Nicholas Reppenhagen, 37, of Derby was driving an unspecified vehicle southward on a curve near 16 New Lebbon Road about 11:15 am on November 21, when the vehicle crossed into the opposite lane, went off the left side of the road and then struck a tree.

After investigating, police charged Reppenhagen with driving under the influence and with failure to keep to the right on a curve.

After processing, police released Reppenhagen on $500 bail for a December 3 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Warrant

Police said that on the evening of November 10, they arrested Jamie Szabo, 41, of Oxford on a warrant, charging him with second-degree failure to appear in court.

In September, Szabo had been stopped by police and was issued a misdemeanor summons on some motor vehicle violations, requiring that he appear in court to answer the charges, police said. Szabo, however, did not appear in court, so a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Following arrest processing on November 10, Szabo posted $500 bail and was released for a November 25 court appearance, according to police.

Vehicle Swerves

Motorist Guy Blair, 25, of Terryville was driving an unspecified vehicle eastward on Mile Hill Road about 3:50 pm on November 19, when a pickup truck, which was traveling northward on Tinkerfield Road, entered Mile Hill Road directly in front of Blair’s vehicle, police said.

Blair swerved to the right to avoid colliding with the pickup truck, but then struck some wooden guardposts and steel guardcabling; the pickup truck then drove away from the scene, traveling westward on Mile Hill Road, police said.

There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.

Three Vehicles

A three-vehicle accident occurred on northbound Mt Pleasant Road, near its intersection with The Old Road, about 4:30 pm on November 19.

Police said motorist Kelsey Matthews, 28, of Trenton, N.J., who was driving a 2010 Ford Fusion, came to a stop after spotting a deer on the roadway.

Motorist Timothy Drotar, 18, of 7 Lantern Drive, who was diving a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix, then struck the rear end of the Ford; and motorist Deanne Herring, 68, of 2 Taunton Lane, who was driving a 2005 Hyundai Sonata, subsequently struck the rear end of the Pontiac, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued infractions for following too closely to Drotar and to Herring.

Multiple Charges

Police report they stopped motorist Ross Moravsky, 18, of Bethel for a motor vehicle violation on Sugar Street, near its intersection with Sugar Hill Road, about 9:15 pm on November 18.

Police said they detected the odor of burning marijuana in the vehicle driven by Moravsky and investigated.

Police then charged Moravsky with possession of narcotics, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and also with failure to have automotive brake lamps.

Moravsky was released on $500 bail for a December 4 court appearance, police said.

Vehicle vs Young Pedestrian

Police report an accident involving a motorist and a pedestrian at the Main Street flagpole intersection at about 5 pm on November 22.

Police said motorist Robert Knowlden, 61, of Danbury was driving a 2013 Subaru Impreza southward on Main Street and approaching the flagpole intersection, after which he attempted to make a left turn onto Church Hill Road.

At that time, Alexander Kyprianou, 13, of Sleepy Hollow Road and two other people were jogging on the crosswalk on Church Hill Road at that intersection, and the Subaru then struck Kyprianou, police said.

Kyprianou reported leg and foot pain, after which he was transported by the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Danbury Hospital, police said.

Knowlden received an infraction on a charge of failure to grant the right of way to a pedestrian at a crosswalk, police said.

Hawleyville Road

At about 5 pm on November 19, motorist Arthur Portela, 41, of Bridgeport was driving an unspecified vehicle southward on Hawleyville Road, near its intersection with Covered Bridge Road, as motorist Debra Anderson, 47, of Beacon Falls was driving an unspecified vehicle northward on Hawleyville Road, police said.

Portela’s vehicle then struck a deer in the southbound lane, after which his vehicle entered the northbound lane and struck Anderson’s vehicle, police said.

There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.

Acura Vs Dodge

Police report a collision involving a 2013 Acura RDX SUV and a 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck about 4:40 pm on November 18 near 29 Church Hill Road.

Motorist Jennifer Burke, 40, of 7 The Old Road was driving the Acura and motorist Sazo Ajdinoski, 43, of Southbury was driving the Dodge, according to police.

There were no injuries. Burke received an infraction for failure to grant the right of way, police said.

Church Hill Accident

Police report a two-vehicle accident on Church Hill Road at the driveway entrance to the Blue Colony Diner about 5:45 pm on November 19.

Motorist George Strong, 70, of 53 Pine Tree Hill Road was driving a 2007 Honda Accord sedan westward on Church Hill Road, as motorist Jessica Rodrigues, 27, of Southbury was driving a 2006 Volvo S-60 sedan eastward there in the right-turn-only lane, police said.

The Honda then attempted to turn left to enter the diner’s driveway, resulting in the two cars colliding, police said. Strong said he did not see the Volvo before attempting the left turn, police said.

There were no injuries. Strong received a written warning for making a restricted turn, police said.

School Bus vs Camry

While driving westward on Sugar Street at about 8:35 am on November 23, motorist Yolina Mugartegui, 31, of Stratford, who was driving a 2012 Toyota Camry sedan, stopped in preparing to turn left onto the connecting road that links Sugar Street to Hattertown Road, police said.

Lucie Petrini, 40, of 1 Whippoorwill Hill Road, who was driving a 2013 Bluebird school bus, then struck the rear end of the Toyota, police said. The All-Star Transportation school bus carried no passengers, police said. There were no injuries.

Police said they verbally warned Petrini for following too closely.

Flagpole Crash

Police report a two-vehicle accident at the Main Street flagpole intersection about 7:50 pm on November 22.

Motorist Nickolaos Kalivrousis, 79, of 35 Butterfield Road, who was driving an unspecified vehicle southward on Main Street, signaled to make a left turn onto Church Hill Road and then stopped at the intersection, after which Kalivrousis’s vehicle was struck from behind by an unspecified vehicle driven by Richard Lawrence, 30, of Bridgeport, police said.

Kalivrousis was transported by the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Danbury Hospital after reporting pain, police said.

Lawrence received an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, police said.

DUI Incident

Police report that while on radar patrol on Sugar Street about 11 pm on November 20, they received a report from a passing motorist that an accident had occurred to the west on Sugar Street, so they went to the area near the intersection of Sugar Street and Scudder Road to investigate.

Police said they found that motorist Alison Litke, 55, of Southbury had been driving a Toyota RAV-4 SUV on Sugar Street, which went off the road and then struck a tree head-on.

There were no injuries. Police said they charged Litke with driving under the influence and failure to drive in the proper lane. Litke was released on $100 bail for a December 8 court appearance, according to police.

DUI Incident

Police said they responded to the Sunset Hill Road area, near Hanover Road, about 5:02 pm on November 23 in response to a complaint of suspicious activity.

Police said that after investigating, they charged Henry N. Gellert, 68, of 28 Grand Place with driving under the influence. Details on the incident were not available from police.

Following arrest processing, police released Gellert on $500 bail for a December 9 arraignment on the charge in Danbury Superior Court.

Tablet Computer

Police said that on the morning of November 25, they accepted for safekeeping an Apple iPad-2 tablet computer that had been found near Waterfall Plaza at 255 South Main Street in Botsford.

Police said the owner may claim the item by contacting them at the police station in reference to Case #2015-29144.

Simpson Street

About 1:13 pm on November 24, motorist Jacob Kreimer, 57, of Naugatuck was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze auto northward on Simpson Street, as motorist Denise Petruccelli, 60, of 9 Putnam Drive, who was driving a 2003 Nissan Pathfinder SUV, was backing out of a parking space along that road’s southbound shoulder, police said.

The Nissan then struck the Chevrolet, police report. There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Petruccelli for unsafe backing.

Berkshire Road Collision

About 5:18 pm on November 23, motorist Laura Miller, 47, of 77 Osborne Hill Road, who was driving a 2006 Lexus GX-470 SUV westward on Berkshire Road, near Sherman Street, slowed due to traffic conditions, after which the Lexus was struck from behind by westbound motorist Karissa Cook, 19, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 2009 Honda Accord carrying three passengers, police said.

All people involved in the accident were evaluated by ambulance staff at the scene and all refused medical attention, police said. Police report they issued Cook an infraction for following too closely.

Church Hill Road Accident

Police report a two-vehicle accident near the driveway entrance to 14 Church Hill Road about 5:32 pm on November 23.

Police report that the accident involved a 2015 Toyota Corolla driven by Margaret Peterson, 24, of New Milford, and a 2003 Toyota Celica driven by Daniel O’Connor, 23, of 5 Saw Mill Ridge Road.

There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Peterson for failure to grant the right of way.

Police report that a compact Volkswagen driven by Elizabeth Melega, 50, of Taunton, Mass., struck the rear end of an unspecified vehicle driven by Brian Olszewski, 21, of 4 Old Green Road. Melega received a minor injury, police said. An ambulance crew also responded to the accident. Police report they charged Melega with driving under the influence and with failure to drive a reasonable distance apart. Melega was released on $500 bail for a December 3 court appearance, according to police.
