SILVERMINE GUILD’S ‘TERRAFORM’ ON VIEW AT WILTON LIBRARY

avv/gs set 11/28 #720753

WILTON, CONN. — Abstract landscapes are featured in “Terraform” this month’s exhibition of Silvermine Guild Arts Center artists at Wilton Library, on view through December 28.

The artists featured in this exhibition use “planetary engineering” as the basis of their landscapes. The four local artists whose works are being exhibited are Ann Conrad of New Canaan, Liana Moonie of Greenwich, Gerald Saladyga of Hamden, and Eve Stockton of Weston.

Jeff Mueller, exhibit organizer for Silvermine explained that, “‘Terraform’ challenges the generally accepted idea of what is a landscape ‘painting.’ Each of the artists engaged with the landscape to create abstract works that are poetic, analytic and sometimes scientific in their representation of landscapes.”

Conrad has been creating her works since she received her degree in arts and archeology from Princeton University in 1985. Her works have been included in solo and group shows throughout the Northeast and are in many public and private collections including her alma mater.

Moonie was born and educated in Italy, where she received a degree as a school teacher. She has participated in numerous juried and invitational shows, and has been in 20 solo shows.

Saladyga was born and raised in Connecticut, and has a studio in downtown New Haven. His work can be found in many public and private collections, including the State of Connecticut, Housatonic Museum of Art, University of Bridgeport, and the Paul Mellon Arts Center at Choate in Wallingford.

A registered architect, Stockton exhibits at the Center for Contemporary Printmaking in Norwalk, Conn., and was a featured artist in the exhibit “Striking Impressions: Paper, Ink & Process.”

All of the works are available for purchase with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the library. Wilton Library is in the heart of Wilton Center at 137 Old Ridgefield Road. For information, 203-762-3950 or www.wiltonlibrary.org.
