Occupation: I work for Ability Beyond Disability, one-on-one with a client; and I volunteer at the Newtown Pound as a dog trainer. I help dogs work out any “issues” to get them ready for a home.

Family: My husband Craig and I just got married in June. I have a daughter, Heather, who is 20 years old.

Pets: I have a boxer named Rocky and I have Bear. He’s a terrier mix.

How long have you worked in town? I live in Danbury, but I’ve been working at the pound for around two years. I lived in Newtown for a while, and at the time when I went to the dump I saw the pound, and I started volunteering here.

What do you like to do in your free time? I spend a lot of time with the animals at the pound, but I’m also into martial arts. I don’t really have a lot of free time. I like hiking with my dogs and I like going to the beach.

Do you have a favorite place to hike? That would probably be Huntington Park. It’s a beautiful park and a good place to walk the dogs.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? I like Florida. We got married on the beach in St Petersburg, and lots of times we go to Tampa, where Craig’s mother lives.

What is the best thing about Newtown? The people are so friendly. I meet a lot of them at the pound. It really is a nice town.

If you could do something you’ve never done, what would you do? I would love to go to Africa on a safari and see all of the animals, especially the zebras.

Do you have a personal philosophy? Every animal deserves a chance. Be kind to everyone, human or not.

What is the most important lesson you have ever learned? Be patient. Don’t give up, even in a difficult situation.
