Child advocate and attorney Ann E. Rose provided the following list of recommended books and useful organizations to those who attended the November 18 âHow To Get Helpâ program focused on special needs children at the C.H. Booth Library.
From Emotions to Advocacy by Pam and Pete Wright; The Special Education Battlefield by Andrew Cuddy, Esq; Special Education Law by Peter W.D. Wright, Esq; How to Compromise with Your School District Without Compromising Your Child by Gary Mayerson; How Well Does Your IEP Measure UP? by Diane Twachtman-Cullen; and A Parentsâ Guide to Special Education in Connecticut from the Connecticut State Department of Education.
Charlie Manos, director of pupil services in Danbury, and a panel member at the November 18 program, recommended author Dr Russell A. Barkley as a source for parents struggling with ADD or ADHD issues in their children. âDr Barkley is considered the âguruâ of research on ADHD,â said Mr Manos. Dr Barkley has also authored videos and books that serve as positive training programs for children and for parents.
