Occupation: Most recently, I became a bus driver for All-Star Transportation. It’s fun and it’s crazy. I’m a registered yoga teacher through Yoga Alliance, since 2008. I’ve been sharing my yoga practice mostly through Newtown Continuing Education. I also am a licensed real estate person, working as a referral agent.

Family: My husband, Bob, and I have been married for 19 years. We have three boys. Scott is 17, Jack is 12, and Rory is 10 years old.

Pets: I have a horse, Stanley, and a miniature horse, Fonzie. We have two dogs. One is a Great Dane named Wonka. Wonka is actually bigger than Fonzie, at 170 pounds. Our other dog is an English Mastiff, The Dude. We have two parakeets, two guinea pigs, a bearded dragon lizard, chickens, and koi fish. We have a mini farm!

How long have you lived in Newtown? We’ve been here for 17 years.

What do you like to do in your free time? I do like to practice yoga, and recently began dabbling in essential oils. I make my own bath oils and lotions. I like to write stories for my children. I enjoy reading, but read mostly yoga texts, and about different yoga philosophers.

What are you reading now? I’m actually reading a novel, Outside the Lines, by Amy Hatavany. It’s about a woman searching for her absent father.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? The Outer Banks in North Carolina. We’ve been going there since before we were married. We have a friend who lives there, and lets us stay with her for only the fee of a case of Hummel hot dogs. She’s from Connecticut, but can’t get Hummels where she lives.

What is the best thing about Newtown? I absolutely love the scenery, the beautiful trails, the warmth of the people, and the sense of history here. Driving around Newtown, it is so large, but anytime you go out, you see someone you know. There’s a close feeling of community here.

Who has been the greatest influence in your life? My grandmother. She seemed to be very even through all of life’s ups and downs, and always positive. She took great pride in all she did and was very caring and nurturing to us. I learned from her to be centered and to be grateful for what I have.

Do you have a personal philosophy? At a recent workshop, I heard “not to be greedy and not be lazy. Just live to your best ability, whatever that may be.” You need to be a participant in life and not just looking for what you can get out of it for yourself.

Do you have a guilty pleasure? Coffee, I would say. I try to balance it out with tea and hot water with lemon. But without my coffee, it’s a cranky morning.
