“Psalms and Carols — A Holiday Celebration,” 8 pm, St Rose of Lima Church, Church Hill Road, Newtown, tickets $15 adults in advance ($18 at door), $15 students and seniors, 100-voice Connecticut Choral Society will perform Connecticut premiere of James Bassi’s Carol Symphony, also Monteverdi’s Magnificat, Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms (to be sung in Hebrew), conclusion will be traditional carols with candlelight procession; 800/555-5250.

“The Greatest Story Ever Told” Annual Christmas Pageant, 4 pm, Trinity Episcopal church, 36 Main Street, service with costumes, music, and the re-enactment of the Savior’s birth by fourth and fifth grade church school classes and youth choirs, all welcome.
