Flags To Remain At Half-Staff For 12/14

HARTFORD - Governor Dannel P. Malloy announced Tuesday, December 13, that he is directing US and state flags in Connecticut to remain at half-staff on Wednesday, December 14, in honor of the 20 children and six adults who were killed four years ago in the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown.also currently at half-staff nationwide in accordance with a proclamation from President Barack Obama in tribute to former US Senator, veteran, and astronaut John Glenn, who passed away last week. Flags should remain lowered until sunset on the date of Senator Glenn's interment, which has not yet been determined. A notification will be delivered when flags should return to full-staff.

Accordingly, since no flag should fly higher than the US flag, all other flags, including state, municipal, corporate, or otherwise, should also be lowered.

President Obama has ordered flags lowered, from 5 pm Sunday until sunset Thursday, June 16, to honor those killed at a nightclub in Orlando, Florida, during the early hours of June 12.
