Robert J. “Bob” Qubick, 87, of Sandy Hook, died December 15. He was born in White Plains, N.Y., March 26, 1932, the son of John Qubick and Eleanor Knapp.

Mr Qubick was a proud, patriotic veteran of the United States Marines. He served with Fox Co Recon during the Korean conflict, earning the Korean War Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

He held patents in plastics and related fields. He was an author of tech papers, a part-time school instructor, and past officer of the Connecticut Section of Plastic Engineers. He also traveled extensively throughout the world. His favorite saying was, “If you do what you love, you’ll never have to work a day in your life.”

Mr Qubick retired after 25 years at the Hubbell Plastic Division as a product engineer and 15 years as the Chief Plastic Mold Engineer at Schick Razor in Milford. His loved ones say he was a true patriot, known for his abilities in the technical realm, which were only surpassed by his gift of directing and motivating people in the work place.

His loving wife and longtime partner, Marge, of Newtown; his brother, John “Jack” Qubick, and his wife, Terry, of Newtown; his three children, Linda Brainard and her husband, Leon, Phillip Qubick, and John V. Qubick, all of Monroe; and his grandchildren, Leon, Sarah, Eric, Jennifer, and Kristina, all of Monroe, survive him.

Mr Qubick was also fortunate enough to have step-daughters, Susan DeLeon of Fairfield, Ruth Jennings of Westport, and Beth and Michael Beaudry of Trumbull; along with step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Burial will be private at the Zoar Cemetery in Sandy Hook and held at the convenience of the family.
