Occupation: Toy Deliverer Extreme, Sharer of Good Tidings

Family: My wife, the Mrs. We also live with hundreds of elves.

Pets: We have nine reindeer, and plenty of their caribou cousins on our property.

How long have you lived in Newtown? I can’t claim residency to Newtown in particular, but for one night each year I feel like I have a home in every town, large and small, around the world. Most of the year, of course, I live at 1 Reindeer Lane, North Pole.

What is the craziest thing you have ever done? One Christmas night in the 1970s, on a dare from Blitzen, I dropped the sleigh way down low so I could water ski across the Sargasso Sea in the middle of the North Atlantic. It was awesome, but a little risky, and I felt bad about delivering a pair of used water skis to Pete Gilchrist in Sarasota. I would never do that again.

What do you like to do in your free time? When you live for eternity, the concept of time doesn’t have much meaning, but when there isn’t anything else to do, I like to skate. I think The Bee ran a picture of me skating on Hawley Pond a couple of years ago.

Do you have a favorite author? I don’t have a favorite author, but my favorite books are about toy building and hobbies. A lot of kids like video games, computers and electronics these days, but many still enjoy receiving hand crafted toys and that’s what my elves do best.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? After traveling around the world in one night, I don’t need to go anywhere else for the rest of the year.

What is the best thing about Newtown? I love that your town has lit a tree in the Ram Pasture for a quarter of a century, whether there is snow on the ground, rain falling, and even on those occasional years when the ground is still bare. The tree is a great navigational beacon for me. I have to say I’m additionally pleased to see that the village of Sandy Hook has started taking care of the beautiful pine tree in The Glen that I placed so carefully there a number of years ago. It’s about time that tree was appreciated.

What is your favorite kind of music? (W)rap music, of course.

Do you have a guilty pleasure? I would say milk and cookies, but I’m more grateful than guilty. I truly appreciate the snacks on the night I work the hardest.

Do you have a personal philosophy? Keep a twinkle in your eye and a laugh in your belly, and always check the list twice.

What do you most cherish? Children. Naughty or nice, I love them all.
