As Head O’ Meadow Principal Barbara Gasparine walked into her school’s cafetorium on Tuesday, December 23, she asked students in Karen Dreger’s second grade class whether they were ready to sing.

“Yeah!” the students responded.

The group was one of the first classes to enter the cafetorium for Tuesday’s holiday sing-along, which was organized and led by music teacher Cynthia Holberg.

Ms Holberg assembled songs for the school assembly to sing together and had words to the songs projected on a screen so students could sing along.

After sitting down at the piano, Ms Holberg announced the first song for the event was the Driedel song.

Other songs the students sang during the assembly included Oh Hanukkah, Oh Hanukkah, Deck The Halls, Jingle Bell Rock, Frosty The Snowman, Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer, and We Wish You A Merry Christmas.

For some songs, Ms Holberg invited students up to play bells along with her playing on the piano.

“Happy Hanukkah,” Ms Gasparine said at the end of the assembly, which last until moments before the final bell rang to dismiss students for the district’s winter break, “Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year.”

Head O’ Meadow music teacher Cynthia Holberg, left, played on the piano while students followed singing songs from a projection during the school’s holiday sing-along held on Tuesday, December 23.
