On Friday afternoon Audra and Hans Barth and their three children were sorting through donations of clothes with friends and neighbors outside the shell of what used to be their cozy little home on Berkshire Road.That structure was destroyed in a stubborn fire March 27. But according to Hans Barth, the fire was comparatively insignificant in relation to the events of 12/14, when their two older children were among the students locked down in, and eventually evacuated from, Sandy Hook School.
Following the shortest public budget hearing in recent memory, the council will take up deliberations on the 2013-14 proposal with the possibility of acting on the request as early as April 3, according to council Chairman Jeff Capeci.

DANBURY — Court officials this week disclosed information uncovered by the ongoing state police investigation into the December 14 shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School, in which a gunman on a shooting rampage killed 20 first-graders and six educators, before killing himself as police approached. In a March 28 statement, Stephen J. Sedensky III, the Danbury State’s Attorney, said that on the morning of December 14, Adam Lanza, 20, of 36 Yogananda Street, Sandy Hook, shot his mother, Nancy Lanza, 52, in her bed with a .22-caliber rifle. There was no indication of a struggle.
Rankin Sports and Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company recently donated $15,000 to The Sandy Hook Family Healing Fund. The funds came through the sale of green and white T-shirts that were designed shortly after 12/14. Green T-shirts feature an adapted Sandy Hook Fire logo on the front, and 26 sets of footprints on the back, with the lettering and artwork done in white.
