Equine Evening Class At Post University

WATERBURY — The second in the series of six evening courses in Equine Husbandry will be held from January 18 through March 15, from 6:30-9:20 pm on Post University’s Waterbury Campus (in MacDermid 103 off Interstate 84’s Exit 17. Park in the North Lot on Country Club Road).

This newly revised course —The Horse — will cover such topics as evolution, conformation/parts of the horse, blemishes and vices, exercise and conditioning, herd behavior, training, disciplines/horse industry overview, transporting horses, fitness, and equipment.

Post University’s courses are offered for horse lovers and owners who wish to get more knowledge on horse care, but do not necessarily need to take a full four-year college course. Post’s courses may be taken in any order and are open to anyone interested — no prerequisites are required. Classes are for eight weeks, three hours per week in the evening, and students may earn either continuing education unit (CEU) credits or enroll for personal enrichment.

The courses are intended to cover the necessary information horse owners require from buying a horse, finding a place to keep it, important information on its care and health issues, barn organization, and many other helpful subjects.

To earn CEU credits the cost is $500, but if no credit is required, the cost is $350 for a Post University Certificate.

To register or for more information, call the Equine Management Department at Post University at 203-596-4631 or e-mail CBaker@post.edu or Jamison Wallace equifin@att.net.
