Parent Programs

Monday, January 8 – “Parents of Children with Special Needs”

Detailed information on these programs follows:

POSITIVE PARENTING FOR PARENTS OF CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS is a new course for parents. This course will now run Mondays, 9 am. Dates for the New Year are January 8, 22, February 5, 26, March 5, 19, April 2, 23, 30, May 14, and June 4. The fee is $25 per person or $35 per couple. This includes all materials and supplies for the whole year, as this is an on-going program. All are welcome at any time.

WELCOME TO THE TEEN ZONE, for parents of middle and high school students, will begin on Thursday, January 18. Perfect for parents trying to understand the ups and downs, ins and outs, and do’s and don’ts of parenting a teen or almost teen. This is a five-week session and the fee is $25 per person or $35 per couple, which includes all materials.

It is necessary to pre-register for all parenting courses.

FATHER’S NIGHT – (Please note change of date) Kicks off the New Year on Monday, January 22, at 7:30.

4-H Clubs – Ongoing

Fourth and fifth grades continue to meet on Monday afternoons from 3:15 to 4:30. Middle School grades meet on Wednesdays from 4 to 5:15. Both groups will meet at NYS. Membership is free but space is limited. For additional information or to register, please call the office.

Youth Group Meetings

The High School Youth Advisory Board (YAB), Middle School Youth Advisory Board (MS YAB), and NYCAAP will all meet again this month. Please watch this column for meeting dates and times.

Membership in the above groups is free and new members are welcome at all times. For additional info please call the NYS office.

Super Sitters

Due to the popularity of this program, another session will be added. Those dates will be Mondays, April 23, 30, and May 7, 14, and 21. The fee is $25 and includes all materials. Snacks are always provided. If interested, please sign up quickly as all other sessions for the year are full.

All programs will take place at Newtown Youth Services, 41-A Main Street. To register, or for further information, please call 270-4335.
