Federal Support

For Americorps

The Connecticut Commission on National and Community Service (CCNCS) and the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) recently announced the availability of federal funds to support new Connecticut Americorps programs starting September 2004 for a 10- to 12-month program cycle.

Americorps is a national service program engaging thousands of Americans on a full- or part-time basis to help communities address their toughest social challenges. Projects for 2004 include tutoring services and horticultural restoration programs. Members can use their stipends toward higher education payments.
