Phyllis J. Russell

Phyllis J. Russell, 75, of Newtown, wife of Floyd L. Russell, died at Danbury Hospital on December 28. Mrs Russell was born in Tucuman, Argentina, September 23, 1928, daughter of the late Harold and Virginia (Bier) Jaynes.

She was a graduate of Mount Carmel High School, Hamden, and had attended the University of Connecticut. She had been the proprietor of the former Auto Haus of Danbury and a longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the National Thimble Association.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, C. Edward Underhill of Bluffton, S.C., and James J. Underhill of Portland, Ore.; a brother, Richard A. Jaynes of Hamden; and two stepsons, David Russell of Delaware and Paul Russell of Naugatuck; and two stepdaughters, Terri-Lynn Fedenza and Sandra Kane, both of Prospect; as well as 20 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury, on Friday, January 2, at 12:30 pm.

Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery, Ridgefield, at the convenience of the family.

Calling hours at the Green Funeral Home were on Thursday, January 1, from 6 to 9 pm.
