Exploring Acting For Adults

NEW HAVEN – Adult actors will have the opportunity to learn the same techniques used to rehearse Long Wharf Theatre’s hit musical A Civil War Christmas by Paula Vogel.

“Viewpoints” is the most widespread contemporary language of exploring space and time onstage. The method was developed by Anne Bogart in collaboration with Tina Landau, the director of A Civil War Christmas, which recently wrapped production on the theater’s Mainstage.

“Not only will you grow as a performer, but you will get an inside look at the process used in rehearsals for A Civil War Christmas,” said Annie DiMartino, Long Wharf Theatre’s director of education.

The workshop, entitled “Exploring Acting For Adults,” will take place Saturdays from January 10 through February 28 from 10 am to noon each weekend. Using both the Viewpoints Technique and Stanislavsky’s acting method, performers will learn how to listen, respond, and actively engage with both the text and other performers. Some acting experience is required.

Space is limited. The cost of the workshop is $275. For more information, or to register for classes, call Jim Clark at 203-787-4284, extension 294 or send email to Jim.Clark@LongWharf.org.
