Mr & Mrs Joseph DeJulio

Stacy Purcell and Joseph Paul DeJulio, both of Newtown, were married on September 27, 2008. Deborah O. Stiewing, JP, officiated the ceremony, which took place at Newtown Congregational Church. A reception followed at Tashua Knolls Country Club in Trumbull. A bagpiper played for guests during the cocktail hour.

The bride is the daughter of James and Patricia Purcell of North Haven and Philip and Kathleen Carroll of Newtown. She was given into marriage by her father, James.

The groom is the son of Richard and Lorraine DeJulio of Newtown.

For her wedding day Stacy selected a diamond white strapless satin gown called Olympia from Maggie Sottero. The gown featured an asymmetrical waist and a corset back in the color of champagne, with a sweep train, and was embellished with bugle beads.

Her flowers were a huge round bouquet of sunflowers, daisies, mums, and the belles of Ireland.

Maid of honor was Sarah Sturgis of Newtown, and bridesmaids were Melanie Zuklie of Newtown, Katherine Engelman of Norwalk, and Jennifer Harriman of Little Elm, Texas. The attendants all wore sleeveless black boat-neck dresses with champagne-colored sashes tied around the waist. Their flowers were round bouquets of sunflowers, mums, daisies, and the belles of Ireland.

Carley Carroll of Dublin, Texas, served as the flower girl.

Best man was Glenn Zuklie of Newtown, and the ushers were Jeffrey Thomas of Southbury, Frank Maturi of Southbury, and Greg Smith of Waterbury.

For their honeymoon, the DeJulios spent two weeks in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico.

Mrs DeJulio is a 1995 graduate of Newtown High School. She also graduated from Northeastern University in Boston in 2000, having earned a bachelor’s in journalism with a concentration in advertising.

She is employed as an advertising sales associate for Fine Cooking and Fine Gardening magazines at The Taunton Press in Newtown.

Mr DeJulio is a 1992 graduate of Newtown High School. He is a member of Crane Operator Local 478 IUOE and is employed by A Quick Pick Crane Service in Shelton.

The couple continues to reside in Newtown.
