St Vincent’s Opens Women’s Imaging Center

BRIDGEPORT — St Vincent’s now offers diagnostic services including digital mammography, bone density screening, and ultrasound services just for women in the newly constructed Swim Across the Sound Women’s Imaging Center.

This new facility is located off the hospital lobby to the left of the Patient Information desk. The center was funded by proceeds donated to St Vincent’s Swim Across the Sound.

The center boasts a full field digital mammography system that allows for shorter exam times and faster results, as well as the state of the art ultrasound and bone density screening equipment. The full resources of the medical center will enable the Women’s Imaging Center to provide all follow-ups, secondary testing, referrals, and a coordinated approach to care all at the same location, focusing on privacy and dignity for patients.

The facility offers the services of a highly qualified and compassionate staff and an expert team of board-certified radiologists who are available 24 hours a day. Peter L. Steenbergen, MD, who is the chief of mammography at St Vincent’s, has been appointed the medical director of the center.
