Bat Program At Kellogg Center

DERBY — The Naugatuck Valley Audubon Society, in cooperation with the Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP’s) Kellogg Environmental Center, will host an informative presentation Tuesday, January 15, at 7:30 pm.

Jenny Dickson, a wildlife biologist with the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection’s Wildlife Division, will be giving a slide-lecture presentation on bats. Ms Dickson is currently leader of the DEP’s Wildlife Diversity Program (WDP).

Ever wonder what bats do in the winter? Explore the fascinating world of bats and learn about the diversity of bats throughout the world as well as those in our own backyard. Learn what bat research is being done in Connecticut and how bat conservation efforts are being put into place in Connecticut.

For those who have bats residing in their eves or barn, there will be plenty of time to discuss nuisance bats, ways to discourage bat roosting, bats houses, disease concerns, and more.

A live big brown bat will also be part of the presentation.

A donation of $4 adult and $2 student for nonmembers of Naugatuck Valley Audubon Society is requested.

For further information, directions, or to register call 734-2513. Kellogg Environmental Center is a 500 Hawthorne Avenue. Signs are posted from Route 34.
