Kathleen Ann Burns Hart

Passionate

Philanthropist And Humanitarian

Kathleen Ann Burns Hart, 49, wife of William G. Hart, Jr, of Sandy Hook, died December 27 at her home after a yearlong struggle with cancer. Mrs Hart was born May 18, 1957, in Bridgeport, a daughter of Calvert and Rita (Arsenault) Burns, both of whom currently reside in Fairfield.

She graduated from Stratford High School and went on to receive her bachelor’s degree from the University of Connecticut in 1979 and her master’s degree from Fordham University in 1981 in the field of social work. She was a passionate philanthropist and humanitarian. She found purpose by working with such organizations as Catholic Charities and the United Way, of which she was a committed board member for more than five years. She was also a talented and dedicated writer, who wrote both fiction and nonfiction consistently throughout her lifetime.

In addition to her husband of nearly 20 years and parents, Mrs Hart is survived by her three daughters, Alexandra Hart, Brianna Hart, and Colleen Hart, all of Sandy Hook; and her brother, David Burns of Reston, Va.

A memorial service will be held for her in Trinity Episcopal Church in Newtown on Saturday, January 6, at 11 am. There will be no calling hours.

Mrs Hart’s primary concern was for her children and their future. Therefore, in her honor, her family has established a trust fund to which donations may be made in lieu of flowers, The Kathleen Burns Hart Memorial College Fund, 11 Stone Gate Drive, Sandy Hook CT 06482.

Arrangements are in the care of the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.
