Devoted Mother And Wife

Mildred Anne “Millie” (Kocet) Barago, 75, died January 2 in Newtown after a long battle with cancer. She was the wife of John R. Barago of Newtown.

Mrs Barago was born in Fairfield November 19, 1930, a daughter of John Martin and Mary (Zadravec) Kocet, formerly of Newtown.

Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, John R. Barago, Jr, of Newtown; three daughters, Terri Lynn Champagne of Newtown, Diane Meade of New Milford, and Carol Ippolito of Moultonboro, N.H.; a sister, Lucy Melvin of Florida; nine grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Jonn and Martin Kocet; and a granddaughter.

Mrs Barago was a graduate of Newtown High School, Class of 1948, St Vincent’s School of Nursing, Class of 1951, and was a registered nurse at St Vincent’s Medical Center for many years. She taught religious education at St Rose Church of Lima in Newtown for several years, and was a parishioner of St Mary’s Church in Bethel. She was a devoted mother and wife and enjoyed traveling with family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Mary’s Church, Bethel, Friday, January 6, at 10 am. Burial will be in Newtown Village Cemetery in the spring.

The family was scheduled to receive friends at the Bethel Funeral Home, 215 Glenwood Avenue, Bethel, Thursday, January 5, from 3 to 5 pm and 7 to 9 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 372 Danbury Road, Wilton CT 06897-2523.
