Ben’s Lighthouse will sponsor a free after-school program at Newtown Middle School for all local seventh and eighth grade students, on Mondays from 2:15 to 3 pm, from February 4 to March 16.

The program will offer students the opportunity to tell stories, like favorite memories or achievements, by talking about the importance of life lessons, lessons learned, and sharing influences in their lives. According to Ben’s Lighthouse, the program’s goal is to create and publish a paperback book with all of the shared stories.

The program will aim to connect middle school youth to their peers and community volunteers who will help to facilitate this program; through interviewing, program participants will discover how personal history changes. Participants will be encouraged to connect the key differences between people and to see the common shared experiences of life and change.

Contact Program Manager Kelly Paredes to register a child for the program at kparedes@benslighthouse.org or 203-426-9070, extension 15.

For more information about the program or Ben’s Lighthouse or to volunteer visit benslighthouse.org.

Ben’s Lighthousewill hold an info session and, for those who are ready to sign up, an application session on November 17 for its July 2016 mission trip to Montana.
