Police said that there currently is no receptacle available in the police station lobby at 3 Main Street for the proper disposal of unwanted prescription drugs, including expired drugs and prescription drug packaging.

Newtown police ask that residents who want to properly dispose of such substances to do so at the Bethel police station at 49 Plumtrees Road, the Brookfield police station at 63 Silvermine Road, or the Redding police station at 96 Hill Road.

Newtown’s receptacle, according to Police Chief  Michael Kehoe, has been temporarily removed in order to bring the program into compliance with current regulations.
