The Resiliency Center of Newtown (RCN) announces its first three programs of 2015.

On Friday, January 9, Carla Bates Barzetti will lead guided healing meditation from 9:30 until 10:30 am. Each month’s guided meditation session focuses on a different virtue. January’s is Joyfulness.

Ms Barzetti is a mother of two children currently residing in Newtown. She has been doing intuitive energy healing work since 2001. Last summer she completed a free online guided healing meditation video series called All Calm Down with the help of The Jesse Lewis Choose Love Foundation.

Her passion for helping people on a deep spiritual level led her to The Resiliency Center, where she continues to offer free monthly guided healing meditations. All of the meditations will have a general theme which will change each month, but they will all have a clear healing, centering, grounding aspect to them.

Ms Barzetti’s hope is to help people hold their grounded connection to their true selves as often as possible. By participating in these monthly meditations, she hopes attendees will be able to see more clearly when they are ungrounded/disconnected, and they will have the tools to find their way back.

Reservations for this month’s program are not necessary

Next week the center will host its next monthly coffee hour, on Wednesday, January 14. This is an informal gathering to reconnect with friends, or make new community connections. Guests are always welcome to bring a friend. Reservations are not necessary.

On  Friday, January 23, from 9:30 to 11:30 am, RCN will host its monthly 15 minute chair massage sessions.

The massages will be administered by Heidi Skowronski, a Sandy Hook resident who has been a licensed massage therapist since 2005. Her modalities include Swedish, deep tissue, chair, hot stone, pregnancy and sports massage.  She is currently employed at Tres Jolie Spa in Southbury.

As with all RCN programs, this is being offered to the community at no charge.  Due to time limits, however, reservations are required for this program.

The Resiliency Center of Newtown is at 153 South Main Street. RCN is a program of Tuesday's Children a 501(c)(3) non-profit family service organization that made a similar long-term commitment to meet the needs of individuals directly impacted by September 11, 2001.

For additional information or reservations when needed, call 203-364-9750, send e-mail to jholguin@resiliencycenterofnewtown.org or visit www.resiliencycenterofnewtown.org.

Founded in the aftermath of 12/14, The Resiliency Center of Newtown has a full day of special offerings, including crisis counseling, planned for the third anniversary of the Sandy Hook School shootings. Residents can take advantage of the programs free of charge.
