The Grand Budapest Hotel, a film that many are calling one of the best films released in 2014, will be the next film offered at Edmond Town Hall Theatre.

The film will be screened daily, January 9-15.

On Saturday, January 10, the 7 pm screening will be offered free of charge. Ingersoll Auto of Danbury, which has been offered at least one free movie screening each month at the theater located within the historic building at 45 Main Street since January 2013, has announced it will sponsor that screening. The auto dealership, which is owned by Todd Ingersoll of Newtown, has announced that it will continue its Free Movie Nights all year, in fact.

Released in March 2014, The Grand Budapest Hotel is director Wes Anderson’s off-kilter look at an old-fashioned European hotel struggling to maintain its place in the rapidly changing times between the world wars. Among its storylines are the adventures of Gustave H (Ralph Fiennes), a legendary concierge at a famous hotel from the fictional Republic of Zubrowka, and Zero Moustafa (Tony Revolori), the lobby boy who becomes his most trusted friend.

In addition to Fiennes and newcomers Revolori, the film also features F. Murray Abraham, Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe, Jeff Goldblum, Harvey Keitel, Jude Law, Bill Murray, Edward Norton, Tilda Swinton, and Tom Wilkinson.

Among its many honors, The Grand Budapest Hotel director Anderson won the Grand Jury Prize/Silver Berlin Bear at the 2014 Berlin International Film Festival (Anderson was also nominated for the Golden Berlin Bear at the same festival).

Mr Anderson also picked up the Best Screenplay honor from Los Angeles Film Critics Association, and Adam Stockhausen won the Best Production Design honor from LAFCA. In addition, Milena Canonero received the Hollywood Film Awards honor for Costume Designer of The Year for her work on this film, and Mr Stockhausen earned the Las Vegas Film Critics Society Award for Best Art Direction.

The film has also been nominated for four Golden Globe Awards, including Best Director, Best Motion Picture, Best Actor in a Motion Picture-Musical or Comedy (Fiennes), and Best Director; and its cast has been nominated for the 2015 Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

The film is rated R for language, some sexual content, and violence. It has a running time of one hour, 40 minutes.

Evening screenings are planned for Friday and Saturday at 7 and 9 pm, and Sunday through Thursday at 7 pm. Matinees will be offered Saturday and Sunday at 1 and 4 pm, and Tuesday at 1 pm.

Regular tickets are $2 per person.

Ingersoll Auto is planning to also sponsor free Saturday Movie Nights on February 7, March 14, April 11, May 9, June 20, July 11, August 8, September 19, October 10, November 14, and December 12. Additional dates may be added during the year.

Edmond Town Hall Theatre will host its first Free Saturday Movie Event of the year on January 10. The early evening screening of The Grand Budapest Hotel will be offered free of charge thanks to Ingersoll Auto of Danbury.
