Residents Sought For Commission Posts

First Selectman Pat Llodra is seeking residents to fill several opening on local appointed boards and commissions. In some cases the appointments are required to be affiliated with a specific political party, while in other cases unaffiliated voters are encouraged to consider serving.

Current openings exist on:

*The Conservation Commission, with one vacancy for a Republican or unaffiliated voter and two open position  available to any registered voter.

*Commission on Aging, with a vacancy for a Republican or an unaffiliated voter.

*Sustainable Energy Commission, with one position open to any registered voter.

*The Economic Development Commission, with three positions open to any registered voter.

*The Board of Ethics, with a position open to any registered voter and one alternate position open to a Democrat of unaffiliated voter.

*Inland Wetlands, with a position open to any registered voter.

*Cultural Arts, with a position open to any registered voter.

*The Employee Medical Benefits Board, with an alternate position open to any registered voter.

*The Pension Committee, with a position open to any registered voter.

A $1.05 million increase for the 2016-17 municipal budget was requested by the Board of Selectmen this week.
