‘Company’ Auditions This Weekend

SHERMAN — Auditions for Company, the first production of the Sherman Players 2001 season, have been scheduled.

Lanny Mitchell, director of the Stephen Sondheim musical, will audition actors on Sunday, January 14, from 2 to 5 pm, and Monday, January 15, from 7 to 9 pm, at Sherman Playhouse, Routes 37 and 39, behind Sherman Firehouse.

The script requires six men and eight women ages 20 to 50. There is also one singing role for a female dancer over age 17. Actors should bring a musical selection of their choice and will be asked to show ability to do simple dance movements onstage.

Callbacks will be on Sunday, January 21, from 2 to 5 pm. The show dates are Friday and Saturday nights April 6 through May 5, plus two Sunday matinees to be scheduled.

Company follows Bobby, an emotionally immature bachelor, through a series of encounters with his mostly married friends, who are eager to have him join their couples status.

Call Lori Metcalf at 860/350-3055 for more information. She is co-producer, with Phoebe Hodge, of the Sherman production.
