Literacy Volunteers Of America Set Training Workshop For New Tutors

A training workshop for new tutors in English as a Second Language for Literacy Volunteers of America will take place on Saturday, January 20,  January 27, and February 3, from 9 am to 2:30 pm, at LVA’s offices at 5 Library Place, Danbury. The trainer will be Darlene Jackson of Newtown.

People who complete this workshop will receive certification as a tutor in English as a Second Language.

The only requirement to be an ESL tutor for Literacy Volunteers is good conversational skills in English. Tutors do not need to know a foreign language. The Danbury Office of Literacy Volunteers serves the towns of Bethel, Brewster, Bridgewater, Brookfield, Danbury, Kent, New Fairfield, New Milford, Newtown, Redding, Ridgefield, Roxbury, Sherman, and Southbury.
