‘Mozart Birthday Bash’ By GBS, Saturday

BRIDGEPORT — A Mozart celebration will be the theme of Greater Bridgeport Symphony’s first concert of the new year on Saturday, January 27, the actual date of the composer’s birth 245 years ago. Clarinetist Timothy Carter will be one of the highlights of GBS’ third subscription concert of the season. The 21-year-old performing artist will perform Mozart’s great Clarinet Concerto.

The concert’s full program will also feature Mozart’s Symphonies No. 23 and No. 39 and the overture from his grand opera, La Clemenza di Tito. The 8 pm “Mozart Birthday Bash!” will take place at the 936-seat Mertens Theater at the University of Bridgeport’s Bernhard Center. The theater is at the corner of University and Iranistan Avenues.

Tickets are $17 to $47 each, with discounts for students under 18 and groups of ten or more. For reservations and information, call the Greater Bridgeport Symphony office at 203/576-0263 or visit www.bridgeportsymphony.org.
