New VA Clinic Approved For Danbury
New VA Clinic Approved For Danbury
DANBURY â The US House and Senate have approved Congressman Jim Maloneyâs request to provide a new veteransâ primary care center in Danbury. This is the final step in the legal process of establishing a clinic.
The VA Connecticut health care system is currently comprised of health care facilities in Newington, West Haven, and primary care centers in New London, Stamford, and Waterbury. The primary care center in Danbury will provide veterans with routine primary and preventive medical care such as physical exams, health screenings, follow-up treatments, laboratory work, basic x-rays, and EKGs.
âThis is tremendous news for veterans in Danbury and the surrounding area,â Congressman Maloney said. âFor the first time [veterans] will be able to get the quality medical care they deserve without travelling all the way to Newington, West Haven, or Waterbury.â
âI want to commend VA Connecticut officials Paul McCool and Leo Calderone and Danbury Director of Veteransâ Affairs Pat Waldron for their commitment and work on the Connecticut side to help make convenient and accessible medical care available to area veterans,â he said.
Before actually opening the clinic, the Veterans Administration Connecticut Healthcare System must first complete a number of administrative steps to determine the actual participation level from area veterans, the range of services that will be provided, and the specific location and hours of the clinic. These steps include conducting enrollment sessions for veterans to get an assessment and analysis of area veteransâ health needs.
